When scheduling your appointment with a GVS network provider, you will be asked to provide your first & last name along with your date of birth OR your member ID number. However, if an optical voucher is required by the Fund to obtain services, members must contact their Fund office directly to request an authorized voucher prior to using the benefit.

Member ID cards are not needed to use your GVS benefit.  However, by registering on www.generalvision.com, you can access a virtual ID card.

GVS offers many convenient in-network locations which can be found on www.generalvision.com or by calling 1-800-VISION1(1-800-847-4661).  However, should you want to use a location outside of the network, most plans offer an out-of-network (OON) option that allows members to receive partial reimbursement.

GVS has a 30% discount arrangement outside of our benefit programs at in-network locations only. Members will receive the discount for any service outside the coverage at in-network locations (i.e. 2nd and 3rd pairs).

Mail Order Contact Lens Program 1-800-ANY-LENS: GVS members receive an additional 15 percent off replacement contact lenses, plus free shipping on any order over $50 at 1800AnyLens.com. 1-800-ANYLENS (1-800-269-5367) is a wholly owned subsidiary of GVS.

Lasik Discount Plan:  Though Qualsight, GVS members can access a national network of Vision centers and doctors for LASIK procedures. Members can receive 20-35% off traditional or custom LASIK services. This value-added program is automatically included in your program.

Hearing Discount Program: Through Epic Hearing, GHS, a division of GVS, can offer a complimentary Hearing Plan for hearing care evaluations and obtaining discounted brand name hearing aids through a national network of preferred providers.  The program offers the largest national network of Audiologists and ENTs in the country; access to all name brand hearing aid technology at fixed prices, representing savings up to 60% off retail and starting as low as $600; extended 3-year product warranties; and the first year’s supply of batteries free.

The GVS Private Frame Collection is a distinctive offering to members and can be found in one of the many convenient in-network location through the Metropolitan New York area.  Click on “Locate a Provider” look for eyeglass icon to find a location with the Private Collection.

Plan dependents can visit different in-network eye care professionals. For example, students who are away at school can locate a participating eye care professional near them.

Typically, your plan benefits will cover eyeglasses or contact lenses within the benefit period, but not both. We are, however, able to offer our members additional discounts on certain eyewear and eye care purchases even after the plan allowances have been used.
